1 Kings 14:21-31 – Don’t Be Gun-Shy (1999) – MP3YouTube
Are we afraid to confront situations, that need to be addressed, because we are afraid of the consequences? Rehoboam has become a gun-shy king after losing ten of the tribes of Israel from his kingdom. Are we gun-shy from following the word of God, because we are afraid of the consequences that may follow? How should churches handle God’s commandments for women to be silent during the Lord’s Supper meeting of the church? How should churches handle immorality in the church? We must not be gun-shy when the word of God and the commandments of God are at issue. When we fail to confront what is wrong in situations where we need to stand for the word of God, we will experience valuable losses.  Other passages mentioned include: 1 Corinthians 14:34-38; 1 Timothy 2:9-10; 1 Kings 12:1-23; 1 Kings 3:2-12; 2 Kings 18:1-4, 17-22; Deuteronomy 12:1-14; 2 Kings 19:35; 1 Corinthians 15:5; 2 Chronicles 12:1-7; and Proverbs 18:10.

1 Kings 22:41-53; Proverbs 10:1 – A Wise Son and a Foolish Son (2000) MP3 / YouTube
In the lives of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, and Ahaziah, king of Israel, we see what made Jehoshaphat, a wise son, and what made Ahaziah, a foolish son.  Jehoshaphat was a wise son in that he was focused in doing the right thing before the Lord.  Jehoshaphat was a peacemaker, a warrior and a moral person.  Jehoshaphat provided security for his people and he learned from his mistakes. Ahaziah, on the other hand, took after Ahab, his father, Jezebel, his mother, and Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. Other passages: 1 Kings 15:8-14; Deuteronomy 12:1-14; Psalm 139:23-24; Matthew 5:9; 2 Chronicles 20:35-37.

Luke 12:54-13:5 – America, a Country About to Crash (March 29, 1992)MP3YouTube
The weather report for the United States of America is that the storm of God’s judgment lies ahead for this country. What is America’s basic underlying problem?  We, as a country, do not do the right thing. A nation is in big trouble when its people refuse to do and say what is right in the sight of God. Repentance is not a condition for eternal salvation. Repentance is a condition for escaping God’s judgment here on this earth. Unless the sinners of America repent, they could all likewise perish. Other passages mentioned include: Genesis 9:6; Numbers 35:33; Romans 6:23; Acts 16:31.

Romans Part 1 – The Theme of the Book of Romans (May 17, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
In this first of a four-part series on the Book of Romans, Zane examines the theme of the book Romans. Zane explains the difference between justification and salvation when used in the book of Romans. Salvation in the book of Romans is not salvation from eternal judgment, but salvation from God’s temporal wrath and deliverance from the depraved and immoral lifestyle around us. The gospel in the book of Romans is God’s power of salvation from wrath, because God has imputed a believer’s faith in Jesus as righteousness.
