The Uniqueness of the Christian ChurchMP3 / YouTube
Was the new birth unknown before the day of Pentecost?  Were Old Testament saints indwelt with the Holy Spirit?  What is the distinction between the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating people in giving them new life and the work of the Holy Spirit in baptizing them into the body of Christ?  If the uniqueness of the Christian Church is not that we are born again, not that we are children of God, and not that we are God’s family, then what is it?  The uniqueness of the Christian church is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, being baptized by the Holy Spirit, being members of the body of Christ, and being the bride of Christ.  Believers in the church age have the special privilege of an intimate relationship with their Lord Jesus Christ.  Our passages mentioned include: Philippians 3:8-10; Psalms 45; John 3:3, 10; John 7:39; John 14:17; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:30-32, Hebrews 1:8-9; Psalm 110:1; Revelation 6:2; Matthew 25:1-13; Mark 13:31; and Colossians 3:1-4.

Zechariah 12:8-13:9 – The Spirit’s Work of Repentance (March 9, 2003) MP3 / YouTube
Zane examines the work of the Holy Spirit in the national repentance of Israel during the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.  True and deeply felt repentance is always a work of God, whenever it occurs.  All of us need the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts to produce the kind of spiritual repentance that God desires. The history of the nation of Israel is the history of the human heart written large.  Other passages mentioned include: Matthew 26:31; 1 John 1:9; 2 Samuel 16:6-8; 1 Kings 22:5-9; John 20:24-29; John 1:10-11; Matthew 27:25; and Psalm 90:12.

Luke 15:8-10; 1 Timothy 3:14-15 – Just Because There Is a Need (November 1992)MP3YouTube
There are three words to remember when looking at the parable of the lost coin: value, diligence and joy. Repentance has nothing to do with the reception of the free gift of eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ. What is the point of repentance? Repentance is the condition for fellowship with God.  Repentance from our sins is the condition for living lives in harmony with Jesus Christ.  If you don’t repent, you are out of fellowship with Jesus Christ your Savior and Lord.  The parable of the lost coin is a story about a Christian who has wandered away from the path that God wants them on, and the only way the Christian can come back is to repent of his sins and return to God.  Whatever is done to the glory of God in the Christian church all over the world, it is done by the power and working of the Holy Spirit of God.  Other passages mentioned: Acts 16:31; John 6:47; John 3:16; 1 Timothy 5:14; Proverbs 31. Note, this message is a partial recording that ends around 32 minutes.

Romans Part 3 (Romans 5-8:11) – The Christian Life (May 19, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
Is the Christian life just a matter of resolve and determination to live a holy life? The Christian life is not a do it yourself experience. The Christian life is partnership with the Holy Spirit. We need to turn our attention and turn our interests to the things of God and to the things of His Word. We need to go to the Word to see the Lord Jesus Christ and to see the nature of our relationship to Jesus Christ, but the Holy Spirit must make these things, vital, real, powerful and transforming. When the Holy Spirit shows us the glory of Christ through the Bible, we are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ, by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  Other passages mentioned include: 1 John 3:9; 1 John 1:8; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:1-3; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.

Romans Part 4 (Romans 8:10-16:27) – God is to be Glorified in Us (May 20, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
God has visited us with His wonderful mercy. We have been justified by faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are to experience resurrection life.  In experiencing resurrection life, we are to work out the will of God.  The bottom line of everything is that God is to be glorified in us.  There is an extended discussion on Romans 8:22-23, Romans 8:16, and Romans 10:9.  Zane answers the question of “What about those who have never heard the Gospel?”  Other passages mentioned include: Genesis 27, Hebrews 12:16-17, Malachi 1:2,3, 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16; Joel 2; John 5:24; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Matthew 11:22-24; Genesis 18:25; Genesis 1:2-3; and 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Romans 8:9-11 – Are You Among the Walking Dead? (February 11, 2001)MP3 / YouTube
Is the Christian life just a matter of determination and the will? How can we live the Christian life? All who have believed in Jesus for the absolutely free gift of eternal life have passed from death into life, but Christians dwell in a dead body. Even though Christians dwell in a dead body, by the resurrecting power of the Holy Spirit, those dead bodies can become the vehicles that express the very life of God and Jesus Christ. As we see the glory of Jesus and the mirror of God’s word, the Spirit of God changes us, so that we are more and more like God’s Son. Christians need the resurrecting power of the Holy Spirit, so that their dead bodies can be the vehicles for the life of God.  Christians are faced with a choice, either to give up on the Christian life and show everybody their ugly spiritual corpses or to open themselves to the transforming power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, and let God’s life flow through you, so people can see the beauty of the Son of God.  Other passages: John 11:1-44; John 5:24-25, 6:47; Romans 7; 2 Corinthians 3:18.
