Romans Part 1 – The Theme of the Book of Romans (May 17, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
In this first of a four-part series on the Book of Romans, Zane examines the theme of the book Romans. Zane explains the difference between justification and salvation when used in the book of Romans. Salvation in the book of Romans is not salvation from eternal judgment, but salvation from God’s temporal wrath and deliverance from the depraved and immoral lifestyle around us.  The gospel in the book of Romans is God’s power of salvation from wrath, because God has imputed a believer’s faith in Jesus as righteousness.

Romans Part 2 (Chapters 2-4) – Justification (May 18, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
In this second message on the Book of Romans, Zane focuses on justification in chapters 2, 3 and 4.  In Romans chapter 2, Zane discusses the standards that God will apply at the final Great White Throne Judgment.  In Romans chapter 3, Zane demonstrates that justification can only be by faith in Jesus Christ, since no one is justified by the works of the law. In Romans chapter 4, Zane demonstrates that even Abraham was justified by faith and that faith is a persuasion and not a decision. Note, it appears that the beginning of this message, discussion of Romans 1, has been cut off.  Other passages mentioned include: Revelation 20; Matthew 19:16-20; Matthew 12:36-37, James 2:10, 23-24; Genesis 15:6; Psalm 32:1-2; Genesis 12:1-3; Galatians 3:6-9; Acts 7:51; Genesis 17; 2 Corinthians 4:4,6; Matthew 16:16-17; and 2 Timothy 2:19.

Romans Part 3 (Romans 5-8:11) – The Christian Life (May 19, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
Is the Christian life just a matter of resolve and determination to live a holy life? The Christian life is not a do it yourself experience. The Christian life is partnership with the Holy Spirit. We need to turn our attention and turn our interests to the things of God and to the things of His Word. We need to go to the Word to see the Lord Jesus Christ and to see the nature of our relationship to Jesus Christ, but the Holy Spirit must make these things, vital, real, powerful and transforming. When the Holy Spirit shows us the glory of Christ through the Bible, we are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ, by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  Other passages mentioned include: 1 John 3:9; 1 John 1:8; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:1-3; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.  Complete recording.

Romans Part 4 (Romans 8:10-16:27) – God is to be Glorified in Us (May 20, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
God has visited us with His wonderful mercy. We have been justified by faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are to experience resurrection life.  In experiencing resurrection life, we are to work out the will of God.  The bottom line of everything is that God is to be glorified in us.  There is an extended discussion on Romans 8:22-23, Romans 8:16, and Romans 10:9.  Zane answers the question of “What about those who have never heard the Gospel?”  Other passages mentioned include: Genesis 27, Hebrews 12:16-17, Malachi 1:2,3, 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16; Joel 2; John 5:24; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Matthew 11:22-24; Genesis 18:25; Genesis 1:2-3; and 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Romans 3:28-31 – Don’t Join the Self-Justifiers (February 14, 1993)MP3YouTube
What is the tallest tale that a man can tell?  I am a good person.  It doesn’t matter how good we look to men, what counts is what God sees on the inside.  Jesus Christ was the only truly good person that ever walked the face of this earth.  If you have convinced someone that you are a good person, you have convinced a dummy. This message was given two weeks after the Dallas Cowboys football team won the Super Bowl.  During the victory parade for the Dallas Cowboys, violence and vandalism broke out.  Note, this message is a partial recording that ends around 29 minutes.  Other passages mentioned: Luke 16:14-18; Romans 3:28-31; Luke 18:9-14, 8-19; Luke 10:30-37; Romans 3:20; James 2:10; Romans 3-4; Romans 4:5-6; Romans 3:19-20.

Romans 8:9-11 – Are You Among the Walking Dead? (February 11, 2001)MP3 / YouTube
Is the Christian life just a matter of determination and the will? How can we live the Christian life? All who have believed in Jesus for the absolutely free gift of eternal life have passed from death into life, but Christians dwell in a dead body. Even though Christians dwell in a dead body, by the resurrecting power of the Holy Spirit, those dead bodies can become the vehicles that express the very life of God and Jesus Christ. As we see the glory of Jesus and the mirror of God’s word, the Spirit of God changes us, so that we are more and more like God’s Son. Christians need the resurrecting power of the Holy Spirit, so that their dead bodies can be the vehicles for the life of God.  Christians are faced with a choice, either to give up on the Christian life and show everybody their ugly spiritual corpses or to open themselves to the transforming power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, and let God’s life flow through you, so people can see the beauty of the Son of God.  Other passages: John 11:1-44; John 5:24-25, 6:47; Romans 7; 2 Corinthians 3:18.

Romans 16:20-24 – The Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ (1975)MP3 / YouTube
Zane demonstrates that we see the ministerial grace, familial grace, professional grace, hospitable grace, prominent grace and condescending grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through other Christians.  Stay close to the people of God, all of your life, because if you do you will always be in touch with the grace of God.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.  Other passages mentioned include: John 1:14,16 and 2 Corinthians 8:9.
