Luke 16:14-18; Romans 3:28-31 – Don’t Join the Self-Justifiers (February 14, 1993)MP3YouTube
What is the tallest tale that a man can tell?  I am a good person.  It doesn’t matter how good we look to men, what counts is what God sees on the inside.  Jesus Christ was the only truly good person that ever walked the face of this earth.  If you have convinced someone that you are a good person, you have convinced a dummy. This message was given two weeks after the Dallas Cowboys football team won the Super Bowl.  During the victory parade for the Dallas Cowboys, violence and vandalism broke out.  Note, this message is a partial recording that ends around 29 minutes.  Other passages mentioned: Romans 3:28-31; Luke 18:9-14, 8-19; Luke 10:30-37; Romans 3:20; James 2:10; Romans 3-4; Romans 4:5-6; Romans 3:19-20.

Romans Part 1 – The Theme of the Book of Romans (May 17, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
In this first of a four-part series on the Book of Romans, Zane examines the theme of the book Romans. Zane explains the difference between justification and salvation when used in the book of Romans. Salvation in the book of Romans is not salvation from eternal judgment, but salvation from God’s temporal wrath and deliverance from the depraved and immoral lifestyle around us. The gospel in the book of Romans is God’s power of salvation from wrath, because God has imputed a believer’s faith in Jesus as righteousness.

Romans Part 2 (Chapters 2-4) – Justification (May 18, 1997)MP3 / YouTube
In this second message on the Book of Romans, Zane focuses on justification in chapters 2, 3 and 4.  In Romans chapter 2, Zane discusses the standards that God will apply at the final Great White Throne Judgment.  In Romans chapter 3, Zane demonstrates that justification can only be by faith in Jesus Christ, since no one is justified by the works of the law. In Romans chapter 4, Zane demonstrates that even Abraham was justified by faith and that faith is a persuasion and not a decision. Note, it appears that the beginning of this message, discussion of Romans 1, has been cut off.  Other passages mentioned include: Revelation 20; Matthew 19:16-20; Matthew 12:36-37, James 2:10, 23-24; Genesis 15:6; Psalm 32:1-2; Genesis 12:1-3; Galatians 3:6-9; Acts 7:51; Genesis 17; 2 Corinthians 4:4,6; Matthew 16:16-17; and 2 Timothy 2:19.
